Granada

Visit Nicaragua's oldest and and most beguiling city. Spend a day hoping from church to church in the city center, visiting a museum or cigar factory, taking a boat tour to one of the many islands and enjoying excellent Nicaraguan steak at XXXXX. The Drive to Granada from Casa Flores is just under two hours. There are many places to stay if you have time for a more leisurely visit.

Masaya

The Masaya Volcano National Park is one of the most popular tourism attractions in the Pacific region of Nicaragua. Here you can get close enough to peer into its' active crater and then learn about the unique flora and fauna of the area. You can also tour a nearby cave that once served as a hideout for Sadinista rebels. End your trip with a leisurely visit to the expansive Masaya Artisan Market to shop local artists and enjoy an excellent meal before your drive home. The drive to Masaya is approximatley 2.5 hours from Casa Flores.

Ometepe Island

Ometepe island in southwest Nicaragua’s vast Lake Nicaragua is known for its' twin volcanoes. The active Concepción Volcano is in the island’s north. In the south, trails lead up Maderas Volcano to San Ramón Waterfall. The island featuers ancient petroglyphs (Ometepe Museum in the town of Altagracia), opportunities for kayaking, horseback riding, hiking and swimming (at Ojo de Agua, a natural spring or any of the numerous beaches). Ferries to the island leave daily from San Jorge, less than an hour drive from Casa Flores. Plan on at spending at least one night on the island.
